Ballast Anchor
To
assist in damping further track movement, Ballast Anchors can be attached
to the track in exactly the same way as the Fleximounts, but are not
attached to a base and effectively just hangs in the loose ballast like
an anchor. Its recommended that Ballast Anchors are used in conjunction
with Fleximounts on the the less critical parts of the route. The Ballast
Anchor has the same shape as the Fleximount but has no spring aligning
mechanism so the cost are considerably lower than the Fleximount.
Installation Instructions
It might
be found that the Ballast Anchor on its own is insufficient to dampen
movement, so additional plates or angles can easily be attached to increase
the damping effect.
UPDATE:
A new variation using quick drying cement was suggested to us recently
by Colin who lives in Shropshire. We have tried out this option and
found that it works, see link.

2
off Angles of your own material, profile & length, (30x30x100
shown, not supplied) (1-1/4" x 1-1/4 x 4") can be
bolted to the Ballast Housing. The horizontal plane dampens
the down pressure from when heavy trains pass. This plane will
also dampen any up movement just before and after the trains
pass. . The vertical planes will dampen cross movement, keeping
the track on its route. In the base of the Ballast Housing is
a 38mm x 22 (1-1/2"x 7/8") wide aperture. This will
allow ballast into the housing assisting anchorage if no base
plate is fitted over the aperture.
